Adult Krav Maga Classes Brisbane
At some point, most adults reach the same quiet conclusion. Being careful is not the same as being prepared. Avoiding trouble is not the same as being able to handle it. Somewhere between a news story, a late walk to the car, or a moment they would rather not replay, they decide it is time to do something about it. That is when most people find our adult Krav Maga classes in Brisbane. We teach practical self-defence first, then build broader martial arts capability on top of it. One structured pathway. Real coaching. A community of adults who show up and do the work.
Who our adult Krav Maga classes are for
The Adult Krav Maga Program is built for everyday people who want practical self-defence and a training environment led by standards rather than ego.
You will find your place here if you are:
- New to Krav Maga or martial arts and unsure where to begin
- Returning to training after life got in the way
- Someone who wants to feel genuinely capable, not just careful
- A woman looking for a focused, women-only training environment
- A veteran, police officer, or first responder wanting values-aligned training
- An experienced martial artist wanting a more complete self-defence system
- An adult who wants clear progression instead of guessing what comes next
Veterans, law enforcement, and first responders are welcome across the full Adult Krav Maga Program, and can access a dedicated membership rate in recognition of their service. No experience is assumed. None is required. These are Krav Maga classes for adults at every starting point.
A structured pathway across five pillars
Every adult class is built on five connected pillars. Together they give you a complete skill set across every range a real situation can move through.
The curriculum comes through our affiliation with Gendai Ryu Krav Maga and Jiu-Jitsu, a modern integrated system developed by Dr Gavriel Schneider, a 9th Degree Black Belt. It is not a sport system. It is built for the situations real people actually face.
Self defence
Practical techniques built for real-world situations. You will learn awareness, decision-making, and effective action under pressure, with a clear understanding of appropriate force and legal responsibility.
Striking
Stand-up skills drawn from boxing and Muay Thai. You will build confidence, timing, movement, and effective striking ability across a range of situations.
Clinch
Close-range techniques adapted from Muay Thai, Judo, Wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu. You will learn to control position, manage pressure, and work effectively at short range.
Jiu-Jitsu
Ground defence integrating Japanese and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You will develop control, escapes, submissions, and genuine confidence when a situation goes to the ground.
Weapons
Understanding and responding to armed threats, including knives and blunt objects, as part of a complete practical self-defence system.
Start with the first pillar
Self-defence comes first. The other four pillars build on it, so you become more adaptable and more capable over time, inside one system rather than four separate gyms.
How training changes the way you think
This is how many of our adult members describe the change once training becomes part of their routine.
I avoid trouble and hope nothing happens, because if it did, I genuinely do not know what I would do. I have been meaning to sort this out for years. I do not feel confident I could protect myself, let alone the people with me.
I am not looking for trouble, but I am not afraid of it either. I know what I would do. I have practised it under pressure, and I know how my body responds. I carry myself differently, and my family feels safer around me.
Start your own before and after
Choose from our adult Krav Maga classes
Four classes, each with a clear purpose and a defined place in the pathway. All adults start in our beginner Krav Maga Classes.
Adult Beginner Krav Maga
The starting point for most adults. Build practical self-defence foundations across awareness, movement, striking, positioning, and responses to real-world threats. No experience required, and none assumed.
Adult Women's Krav Maga
Practical self-defence in a women-only room, led by a female instructor who started as a student in our adult program before completing the CKMA instructor pathway. Beginner friendly, and connected to the wider program whenever you want more.
Adult Mixed Martial Arts
Boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, Judo, and Jiu-Jitsu, built to make you more well-rounded. This is not a fight gym. It is structured training without the culture that puts most adults off. Open to every adult member from day one.
Adult Advanced Krav Maga
Higher pressure, scenario training, weapons defence, and sparring, for students at White Belt Stripe 2 and above. Not a class you rush into. It is the reward for the work done earlier.
Still unsure? If you have never trained, start with New to Krav Maga or Martial Arts. If you have trained before, see Previous Krav Maga or Martial Arts Training. You can also compare our self-defence classes in Brisbane and martial arts classes in Brisbane across every age group.
How the adult Krav Maga pathway works
The four classes are not separate products. They are one system, and you move through it as your capability grows.
You start with foundations
Beginners or Women’s, depending on the room you want. Both teach the same core self-defence system and both connect to everything that follows.
You add range from day one
Adult MMA is open to every member immediately. Striking, clinch, and ground work sharpen your self-defence rather than sitting beside it.
You earn advanced training
At White Belt Stripe 2, Advanced opens up. Pressure testing, scenario work, and sparring, in a room where everyone has earned their place.
You progress through the belts
White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Brown, and Black. A clear standard at every stage, so you always know where you are and what is next.
Why adults choose CKMA
Four things members tell us made the difference.
One program, not unconnected classes
Krav Maga, striking, clinch, Jiu-Jitsu, and weapons inside a single system, in sequence, building on itself.
Coaching that meets you where you are
Adults arrive from genuinely different starting points. Every session is coached to your level, not the room’s average.
A culture that matches what it claims
Every gym says it is ego-free. Ours is evidenced in what members write publicly, not in what we write here.
Coaches built inside the system
No externally hired instructors handed a curriculum. Every coach is developed by Max to one standard.

What Adult Members Say About Training at CKMA
Meet the Krav Maga instructors behind our adult classes
CKMA was founded by Max McGregor, an Australian Defence Force veteran and 3rd Degree Black Belt and Senior Instructor in Gendai Ryu Krav Maga and Jiu-Jitsu. Max is the Brisbane Representative for the Federation of Israeli Martial Arts, holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Dennis Survival Ju-Jitsu and a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Antonio Lauro Rodrigues, and brings over 12 years of coaching experience. His ADF background informs how every program here is built, sequenced, and taught.
He also holds a Certified Gendai Ryu Krav Maga and Jiu-Jitsu Instructor qualification, a Level 3 Instructor qualification through the Australian Martial Arts Coaching System, and is a Nationally Accredited Self-Defence Instructor. He has trained in Israel and under respected leaders across the international Krav Maga community. In 2026, he was awarded the FIMA Krav Maga Instructor of the Year.
Every CKMA instructor is personally trained, vetted, and developed by Max. They are not hired externally and handed a curriculum. Our coaches began as students in this adult program, were selected for the instructor development pathway, and trained directly under Max. They understand the student experience from the inside, because they lived every stage of it.
That is what the coaching standard looks like in practice. Not credentials on a wall. People who have done the work, and are here to help you do the same.
Adult Krav Maga classes Brisbane: FAQs
Which adult class should I start with?
Most adults begin with Adult Beginners Krav Maga. Women who prefer a women-only room start with Women’s Krav Maga. Both teach the same core system and both connect to the wider program.
How do the four adult classes fit together?
They are one pathway, not four products. You build foundations in Beginners or Women’s, add range through MMA from day one, and unlock Advanced at White Belt Stripe 2.
Do I need experience or fitness to start?
No, to both. Most adults here started with neither. Fitness is a result of the training, not a requirement for it, and coaches work from your current level in the first session.
What makes CKMA different from other Krav Maga gyms in Brisbane?
Five connected pillars inside one system, built on Gendai Ryu, rather than a single discipline or a collection of unrelated classes. Founder Max McGregor is an ADF veteran, 3rd Degree Black Belt, and Nationally Accredited Self-Defence Instructor. The culture is ego-free, and the evidence for that is what members write publicly, not what we claim here.
How does the belt system work?
The adult sequence runs White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Brown, and Black. Each stage has a clear standard, so you always know where you stand and what comes next.
Where are you located?
Our adult Krav Maga classes run at 889 Logan Road, Holland Park, Brisbane Southside QLD 4121. Adults train with us from Mount Gravatt, Greenslopes, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carina, and the surrounding southside suburbs. Street parking is available on Logan Road.
Ready to get started?
You do not need experience. You do not need to be fit. You just need to stop putting it off. This is where being careful turns into being capable.
